The rapper J Cole, born in 1985, with a full name of Jermaine Lamarr Cole has become a successful artist during the last decade. J Cole is a hip hop artist who first impressed many as a rapper in 2007 whilst working on his debut mixtape, named "The Come Up". Since then, the rapper signed to Jay-Z's label in 2009, releasing first, two additional mixtapes with the label known as Roc nation. In 2011, the debut album was released, entitled "Cole World: The Sideline Story". This album was a big success for the artist, as it became number one in the US billboard charts and also went platinum. The rappers first grammy award came in 2014, after the release of two more albums "Born Sinner" and "Forest Hill Drive" which he won the award for. These albums both went platinum as well with the latter album receiving a special critical acclaim as the first rap album that went platinum for over 25 years, without any collaboration from any other external artists. The talent of J Cole, however, does not lie solely in his ability to sell hip hop albums, as the artist is also well known and talented as a music producer. A rare site these days, but the artist is heavily involved in the production of all his own work whilst also having success in producing tracks for many other artists, most notably these are Kendrick Lamar and Janet Jackson. The early career of J Cole before the mix tapes was inspired by rappers such as Eminem and the artist started writing song ideas at the age of 14. Interestingly, the rapper was first dismissed by Jay Z, however, later on, it came to be that he would actually sign on to his label and the very track he was dismissed for, became his first mix tape.
